Resolutions: At home workouts

Afternoon all.

As I’m now banging on about my eating habits and working out resolutions, I thought I'd share with you lot what I actually do to keep fit! As well as swimming and running, I have always loved to workout, it’s just unfortunate that sometimes my laziness gets the better of me and I really do need a kick up the backside to get me moving again.

It also doesn't help nowadays with the awful weather and the dark evenings! So this blog is all about working out from home!

I've always wanted to join a gym though I never have. I've always begrudged the idea of spending £50 a month on a service that I can't really use that often.

(I don’t drive at the moment, so it would be hard to get to any gym before or after work so I could only really use the gym at the weekends, which means the busiest time!)

Not all of us are lucky enough to have gym equipment at our house but with the help of social media, it’s easier than ever to work out from the comfort of your own home.

I have never bought a workout DVD in my life as I have found some absolute gems on Youtube that are suitable for anyone. Below I have included my top workout videos that I personally use:

For beginners:

The Beach Bum Workout: Warm Up

There are six videos in total for warming up, legs, bums, tums, arms and a cool down, each video is around 10 minutes long, so they’re quick, snappy and straight to the point.

There are three lovely ladies working out along with you, each doing different workouts suitable for beginners, intermediate and experts, so you can increase or decrease your workout whenever you like.

I have used this video for around four years and it really helps to tone up all your unwanted wobbly bits.

I do find I have to do this work out every day to see some difference and it does take around two weeks to really notice a change but the results are worth it!

Please note – weights are required for some of these videos!

Quick workout:

Ok, so you haven’t got ten minutes to spare. How about just one? Yes, you heard!

1 minute abs!

So it’s obviously not going to be an intense workout and it’s only focusing on one area, but this workout is so quick and easy, there really is no excuse!

Added bonus? No equipment required!

Again, doing this every day, even twice a day for two weeks, you will see an improvement! I have always gone back to this workout over the years and it’s always been a staple in my routine!

Intense workout:

Fat Burning Cardio Workout - 37 Minute Fitness Blender Cardio Workout at Home

I’m not going to sugar coat I’m afraid, if you think you’re in shape, you may think differently after this one.

I thought to myself ‘Well, you’re just a bit wobbly, you're not unfit! You can do this!

However, after ten minutes, I genuinely thought I might puke! But my goodness, it works! My body ached so much after this and I sweated the most I've ever sweated before! It was brilliant.

The main channel for FitnessBlender

This channel has so many workout videos, it’s a treasure trove of fitness! They're all quite fun and different so you won't get bored easily with the routines.

I will note, these take a lot of willpower to finish. You might want to give up with them half way through but honestly, don’t

Things seem much perkier just after the first time! So have a go!

Added bonus? No equipment required!

Remember some key points when working out:

Keep hydrated
Warm up and a cool down – you won’t hurt as much afterwards!
If you feel you’re hurting yourself – stop!
Think positive! – No ‘I can’t do it’ – you can! – prove it to yourself!

I hope this has inspired you to get moving with me! Just remember, you don’t have to spend big bucks to work out.

If you have any exercise videos you can suggest for me, post them in the comment section below!

*Please note, I cannot be held responsible for any injury you may incur whilst doing these workouts.  I am in no way a fitness professional, but I know what my body can take, so please, use a bit of common sense and if you don’t feel up to them, stop and have a rest! If you want more information on different exercises for your body type, you can go down to your local gym and hire a personal trainer for an hour or two for professional’s advice!
